T1 - Type 1/Class I Surge Devices

A Type 1/Class I device should be fitted at the incoming supply of any building fitted with a steel frame or Lightning Protection System (Faraday Cage), where power is supplied by overhead cables or where the building is in a remote area.

The Type 1 SPD protects electrical installations against the catastrophic effects of a direct lightning strike. Where a Type 1 SPD is fitted at the incoming supply, Type 2 protection 'downstream' may be required to protect distribution boards and sensitive electrical equipment from damage caused by let-through voltage.

Type 1 SPD is characterized by a 10/350 µs current wave.

Type 1-Class I/Type 2-Class II/Type 3-Class III- Single Phase-25kA-275VAC

A 25kA single-phase MOV+GDT lightning and surge arrester. Designed for TNS, TNC-S and TT earthing systems. For use at the boundary of LPZ 0 to LPZ 1 in structures of LPL I and LPL II (Class I and II Lightning Protection System) as a Type 1 lightning arrester. They are also Type 2 and Type 3 tested for use in sub-distribution boards and local equipment protection.

Single Phase T1/2/3 Lightning and surge arrester for LPL III and IV

This range of lightning and surge arresters are configured in 3+1 and 1+1 (CT2 according to BS 7671), allowing for installation in TN-S, TN-C-S and TT earthing systems. This configuration is required for TT earthing systems where an RCD is not used, or the surge arrester is installed on the supply side of the RCD. These arresters are designed for use at the boundary of LPZ 0 to LPZ 1 in structures of LPL I and LPL II (Class I and II Lightning Protection System) as a Type 1 lightning arrester. They are also Type 2 and Type 3 tested for use in sub-distribution boards and local equipment protection.

Single Phase T1/2/3 Lightning and surge arrester for LPL I and II

This range lightning and surge arresters are configured in 4+0 and 2+0 (CT1 according to BS 7671), allowing for installation in TN-S and TN-C-S earthing systems. This configuration is not suitable for use with a TT earthing system. These arresters are designed for use at the boundary of LPZ 0 to LPZ 1 in structures of LPL III and LPL IV (Class III and IV Lightning Protection System) as a Type 1 lightning arrester. They are also Type 2 and Type 3 tested for use in sub-distribution boards and local equipment protection.

Single Phase T1/2/3 Lightning and surge arrester for LPL III and IV

This range lightning and surge arresters are configured in 4+0 and 2+0 (CT1 according to BS 7671), allowing for installation in TN-S and TN-C-S earthing systems. This configuration is not suitable for use with a TT earthing system. These arresters are designed for use at the boundary of LPZ 0 to LPZ 1 in structures of LPL III and LPL IV (Class III and IV Lightning Protection System) as a Type 1 lightning arrester. They are also Type 2 and Type 3 tested for use in sub-distribution boards and local equipment protection.

Three Phase T1/2/3 Lightning and surge arrester for LPL III and IV

This range of lightning and surge arresters are configured in 3+0 and 1+0, allowing for installation in TN-C earthing systems.

Three Phase T1/2 Lightning and surge arrester for LPL III and IV

This range of lightning and surge arresters are configured in 3+1 and 1+1 arrangement for use in distribution systems using IT earthing, with or without a distributed neutral. These arresters are designed for use at the boundary of LPZ 0 to LPZ 1 in structures of LPL III and LPL IV (Class III and IV Lightning Protection System) as a Type 1 lightning arrester. They are also Type 2 tested for use in sub-distribution boards. A high-power GDT between the centre point (CP) and earth ensures that there is no earth leakage current, which allows the device to be used in conjunction with insulation monitoring systems.

Three Phase T1/2/3 Lightning and surge arrester for LPL I and II

This range of lightning and surge arresters are configured in 3+1 and 1+1 (CT2 according to BS 7671), allowing for installation in TN-S, TN-C-S and TT earthing systems. This configuration is required for TT earthing systems where an RCD is not used, or the surge arrester is installed on the supply side of the RCD. These arresters are designed for use at the boundary of LPZ 0 to LPZ 1 in structures of LPL I and LPL II (Class I and II Lightning Protection System) as a Type 1 lightning arrester.
