Electrical Power Generation

Electricity power generation is a process of generating electric power from sources of primary energy. The electricity is most often generated at a power plant by electromechanical generators, primarily driven by heat engines fuelled by combustion or nuclear fission, but also by other means such as the kinetic energy of flowing water and wind. Other energy sources include solar photovoltaics and geothermal power. The plant and machinery used to create this power are susceptible to damage caused by nearby lightning strikes and transient over-voltages caused by other sources. To protect such expensive damages being caused, it is good practice to make sure all such machinery is installed with SPD’s (Surge Protection Devices).

We can offer bespoke products like our AZA series of MOV assemblies offering customised options for the overvoltage / surge protection of DC exciters and similar or allied systems. These devices are built to suit your desired application and give you a solution to all your surge issues.

A wide range of Continuous Operating Voltages and system energies can be accommodated in robust and compact assemblies and can be supplied as discrete units or configured on mounting plates for direct installation, thus saving you downtime, any unnecessary expense and hassle in your industry.

Contact us today with any surge problem, we believe that at PD Devices we have a product “For All Your Surge Solutions”.

This AZA assembly format is composed of one central section of 3 x 88mm (MOV) metal oxide varistor discs in parallel. The AZA-1-441 also has a seperate single disc either side of the central section.

Made and Designed in the UK using 2 of our specially 88mm designed MOV (Metal Oxide Varistors) discs.

These solutions are insulated rod mounted assemblies that can be free-standing on robust supporting end brackets, with mounting and termination options that can be tailored to suit any given application.

A surge suppression assembly for boost current tranformers in a specific excitation system.

A metal oxide overvoltage/surge protection assembly designed for a specific DC traction application.

The assembly is composed of 8 x 88m diameter metal oxide discs parallel connected to address the clamping and energy withstand requirements.

Optimum current and energy distribution between the discs is achieved by careful voltage/current matching of each.

The AZA-XP-S-V describes a range of transient surge protection devices for industrial equipment applications. Operational features include low clamping voltage with a fast response to steep front impulse voltages.
