The renewable energy industry is made up from many different kinds of sources, from primarily using sun for solar (photovoltaic) energy, wind (wind turbines) and water (hydro electrical plants).
These facilities are all used today to convert these natural free energy sources into electricity for our consumption, and provide the exact same product as the fossil fuel industry but without all the dirty emissions that are dispersed into the atmosphere which affects the air we breathe and the environment we live in.
Unfortunately it is far more expensive to produce power from using these FREE renewable energy sources than the burning of fossil fuels. The reasons behind all of this is the shear cost based on the equipment that is necessary to harness natural sources and convert them to electricity and the maintenance or replacement of this equipment.
The main and overall problem with regards to reducing any of the costs within the renewable sectors is the same thing we are using in the first place ….nature.
The damage that lightning strikes can cause to windfarms, solar panels, hydro plants and all the equipment used within them that are connected is very costly. This cost can be prevented by the implementation of our surge protection devices (SPDs).
