Surge Protection for Solar, Wind, Hydro Energy

As the renewable energy industry grows, we see increasing use of solar (photovoltaic) panels, wind turbines and hydro electrical plants to convert natural energy sources into electricity for our consumption as a clean alternative to the fossil fuel industry.

Electrical equipment within a building fitted with any of these means of power generation may be susceptable to the effects of transient overvoltages caused by atmospheric conditions. It's important therefore, that SPDs are fitted to protect cables and euqipment within the building.

Products listed below represent just a few of the solutions we offer. If you don't see the asembly or specification you require listed below, please contact our technical team as we will be able to suggest a suitable product that isn't listed, or design a bespoke solution to suit your application.

T2, DC Surge arrester for PV

This series of products are type 2 lightning & surge arresters according to EN 61643-11 and IEC 61643-11. This arrester is recommended for use in the Lightning Protection Zones Concept at the boundaries of LPZ 1-2 (according to IEC EN 62305) for equipotential bonding of positive and negative busbars of photovoltaic systems and the elimination of transient overvoltages that originates during the atmospheric discharges or switching processes. The MOV modules, connected between the terminals L+, L- and PE, are equipped with internal disconnectors. The unit has a Status Indicator which turns red when replacement is required.

T1/2, DC Lightning and surge arrester for LPL I and II

11, IEC 61643-11 and UTE C 61-740-51. They are recommended for use in the Lightning Protection Zones Concept at the boundaries of LPZ 0-2 (according to IEC EN 62305) for equipotential bonding of positive and negative busbars of photovoltaic systems and elimination of transient overvoltages originating from atmospheric discharges or switching processes. The varistor modules are connected between L+, L- and PE conductors and are equipped with internal disconnectors. Operational status indication of these disconnectors is both visual (the indication window changes to Red) and remote (by potential free, change
over contacts).
